Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces (1 block) Cream Cheese, softened: This is the heart of our dip, providing a creamy, tangy base. Ensure it’s properly softened to room temperature for the smoothest, lump-free result. Full-fat cream cheese is recommended for the richest flavor and texture.
- 7 ounces (1 jar) Marshmallow Fluff (or Marshmallow Creme): This magical ingredient brings the signature sweetness and light, airy, fluffy texture that makes this dip so irresistible. It’s what gives the dip its “marshmallow” name and appeal.
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract: A small amount of good quality vanilla extract enhances the sweetness and adds a warm, aromatic depth of flavor that complements both the cream cheese and marshmallow.
- Optional: 1-2 tablespoons Powdered Sugar (Confectioners’ Sugar): If you prefer a sweeter dip or if your marshmallow fluff isn’t quite sweet enough for your liking, a touch of powdered sugar can be added. It also helps to slightly thicken the dip.
- Optional: 1 tablespoon Milk or Cream (or Orange/Pineapple Juice): If your dip is too thick after mixing, a small splash of liquid can help achieve the perfect consistency. Milk or cream will maintain the creamy flavor, while a fruit juice like orange or pineapple can add a subtle, complementary fruity tang.
Instructions
- Prepare the Cream Cheese: Ensure your cream cheese is thoroughly softened. If you’re short on time, you can unwrap it, place it on a microwave-safe plate, and microwave it in 10-second intervals until just softened but not melted. Be very careful not to overheat it.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, and vanilla extract. If you’re using powdered sugar, add it now as well.
- Mix Until Smooth: Using an electric hand mixer on low to medium speed, beat the ingredients together until they are fully combined, smooth, and fluffy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula a couple of times during mixing to ensure everything is incorporated evenly and there are no lumps of cream cheese. If you don’t have an electric mixer, you can use a sturdy whisk and some elbow grease, but it will take longer to achieve the same smoothness.
- Adjust Consistency (Optional): Check the consistency of the dip. If it seems too thick for your liking, add the milk, cream, or fruit juice one tablespoon at a time, mixing well after each addition, until you reach your desired consistency. Be careful not to make it too thin.
- Chill (Recommended): While the dip can be served immediately, it benefits from chilling in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to an hour. This allows the flavors to meld together and the dip to firm up slightly, making it even more delicious. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap before chilling.
- Serve: Once chilled, give the dip a quick stir and transfer it to a serving bowl. Arrange your favorite fruits, cookies, or other dippers around it and enjoy!
