  • Author: Sarah

Ingredients

Scale

Before you start, make sure you have all the necessary ingredients ready. Here’s a comprehensive list:

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground turkey or chicken
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Creating the perfect lasagna involves a few simple steps. Follow these instructions to ensure your dish turns out perfect every time:

  1. Preheat the Oven
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking.
  2. Cook the Lasagna Noodles
Prepare the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Meat Mixture
In a skillet, brown the ground turkey or chicken. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, ensuring the meat is cooked through and well-flavored.
  4. Mix the Ricotta Cheese
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the grated Parmesan cheese. This mixture will add a creamy layer to your lasagna.
  5. Assemble the Lasagna
    • Spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
    • Place 3 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
    • Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
    • Add a layer of the cooked ground turkey or chicken.
    • Spread another layer of marinara sauce.
    • Repeat the layers: noodles, ricotta mixture, meat, and sauce.
    • Finish with a layer of the remaining noodles, cover with marinara sauce, and sprinkle with mozzarella and the rest of the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake the Lasagna
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Rest Before Serving
Allow the lasagna to sit for about 10 minutes before slicing. This resting period helps the layers settle and makes serving easier.
  8. Garnish and Serve
Optionally, garnish with fresh basil for an added touch of flavor and color.
