  • Author: Sarah

Ingredients

To create this delightful breakfast sandwich, gather the following ingredients:

  • Texas Toast: 4 slices (preferably thick cut)
  • Ham: 4 slices (cooked and thinly sliced)
  • Lettuce: 4 leaves (crisp and fresh)
  • Tomato: 1 large (sliced)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons (for toasting bread)
  • Mayonnaise: 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste
  • Olive Oil: 1 tablespoon (for frying eggs)
  • Optional Add-ons:
    • Avocado slices
    • Cheddar cheese slices
    • Hot sauce or sriracha

Instructions

Follow these steps to make your Texas Toast Breakfast BLT:

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Wash and Slice: Start by washing the lettuce leaves and slicing the tomato into thin rounds. Set them aside for assembly later.
  2. Cook the Ham: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the ham slices and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are lightly browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 2: Toast the Bread

  1. Butter the Bread: Spread butter on one side of each Texas toast slice.
  2. Toast the Bread: Place the bread slices butter-side down in the same skillet over medium heat. Toast until golden brown, then flip and repeat on the other side. Remove from the skillet.

Step 3: Cook the Eggs

  1. Fry the Eggs: In the same skillet, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Crack the eggs into the skillet, and season with salt and pepper. Fry until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your liking (sunny-side-up, over-easy, etc.).

Step 4: Assemble the Sandwich

  1. Spread Mayonnaise: On one side of each slice of toasted bread, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise.
  2. Layer the Ingredients: Take one slice of toast and layer it with lettuce, a slice of tomato, ham, and a fried egg.
  3. Top It Off: Add any optional add-ons like avocado or cheese. Place another slice of toast on top to complete the sandwich.
  4. Repeat: Repeat the layering process for the second sandwich.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Cut and Serve: Cut each sandwich in half if desired, and serve immediately. Enjoy your Texas Toast Breakfast BLT while it’s warm and fresh!
